It looks like this other "GAP" forum run by "am's" [ which really isn't a forum at all yet] are planning a convention in London making the ICE convention longer. I don't know what this new "place" thinks they are going to accomplish, they don't even talk with affiliates , can't even join, but yet they think they are going to make up some new rules for us??? and now a convention? who goes, just am's?? what do they do? play barrel full of monkeys or something??


The event would take place in London just prior to ICE, so the London event's would be from:

Mind the GAP 23rd Jan - 25th Jan
ICE 26th Jan - 28th Jan
LAC 28th Jan - 31st Jan

Saw this in a poll at gpwa, had me confused too, I thought THIS was GAP. As for the impostors, just say NO.

Three back to back conferences in London spanning the last (very cold) week in January?!

Personally, I question the wisdom of having even one conference in London in January. It's always so damn cold...why not have a London conference in the summer when there's an outside chance of some sun.

But who can really afford to spend a week in London and frankly who would want to go to three conferences.

People will be forced to choose. And it's the other GAP that will lose out...mainly because no one has ever heard of them.

ICE was never an affiliate conference, it was a land based gaming conference, selling machines, tables, uniforms, software, etc, with the "amusements" show running in parallel so people could get it all in one show.

At some point affiliates started to use the show as an excuse to gather at least 2003, maybe even earlier. I first went in 2004, in 2005 i set up a pub crawl, in 2006 Casino Man and I setup a party (sponsored by brightshare) for the online community. Primarily because i found Fire and Ice too loud and crowded. Lou announced at spring of 2006 that there was going to be a CAP london... there is another story as to why i didn't launch a conference before that.

So now the affiliate programs want to have their own show and kill off the other show. it certainly wasn't done without hoping to kill the booth sales for the "used to be cap" conference.

I joined them a while back.

I think when the "other" copycat GAP, first started they let everyone join in, then they decided to close registration to only AM's.>?? wonder why? Have you been able to get in over there lately? if so, maybe you can become our SPY!
