Hi,
As a "dungeon dweller" here or as some may say a "bottom feeder", I would love to be able to pick the brains of my more wiser and successful peers here so that some day i can become successful in this business also. So if a girl can ask for some pointers and some wisdom on how to move out of the dungeon and join the big boys here it would be very much appreciated. I promise to "pick" gently and hope you can show some kindness to your subordinates. [lol] First question Landing Pages? I see many successful webmasters here requesting landing pages for a brand before promoting them, why? Is having a landing page that important for a promotion? Also, how do you use these landing pages, do you just use text links, or do you somehow incorporate the link into a banner, or do you have specific banners tailor made with the landing page you wish to use? Thank you for any and all replies, the more the better. Your budding peer Pat

Am i wrong on assuming their importance?

many programs offer landing pages in their marketing material.
You can use a text link or banner or have the casino create a specific landing page for you. ok its simple, my site is mostly slots so I might want to use the link provided in the marketing area of the affiliate program that sends the player directly to the casino page that lists the slot games instead of the casino home page. In another example say you write and article about casino bonuses, you might want to sprinkle a few links to some casinos that offer great bonuses throughout the article. Why send them to the home page when you can land them directly to the promotions page where all the bonus info is? The less clicks to get someone to exactly what they're looking for the better. If my explanation is crappy, you can just google, what is a web site landing page? btw: you need update your signature in all the forums and get rid of that awful extra double quote.

Hi Pat,
I imagine some of the landing pages are for affs who've garnered some kind of special offer or they are targeting slots thus wish for a slot machine type landing page as opposed to one for blackjack etc. that's my 2 cents.

Thank you Jim and Steve for having brains for me to pick, and what nice brains they are!
Ok, i get the meaning of having a "targeted" landing page, i guess i kinda knew this, but wasn't sure if my mind had simplified it and i needed more info. Now does having a "targeted" landing page actually convert into more players in your experience? Thanks pat

Agreed with slotplayer - splash pages are great if you have a targeted niche because you can then send the players to a landing page showing exactly what they are looking for.
Rewards Affiliates has hundreds of landing pages in English as well as another handful of languages. You may like to have a look through to see the different styles of splash pages available. You can also request a certain type of landing page - we will create anything within reason ![]() Cheers

A perfect example of a custom landing page would be for a rakeback affiliate. As a rule, most poker sites do not offer rakeback on their landing (home) page. So, for me, as a rakeback affiliate, having a custom made rakeback page complete with my logo (branding) would be an awesome sales tool and potentially increase conversions. It's all about creating trust and loyalty with the players, having a custom landing page creates a more professional image... a serious full time affiliate vs a part time/hobby affiliate.

Thank you Renee and Terry!
Terry, thanks for the explanation on why its important to try and caterer to your visitors/players with specific landing pages, it makes total sense to me and is information i will now have in the back of my head when getting marketing material. {hugs} Renee, thanks for the info on what CR offers, i believe i need to concentrate more on your programs and try to bring in some new players, as you are about the only Microgaming that still has a "good" rep with us Affiliates! Be in touch soon. Thanks Pat

I almost forgot to add that most of your articles/conent should be leading somewhere ... in this case the landing page can be (as mentioned) very niche orientated, so in a perfect world you'd be giving your readers good advice and part of that good advice would always include where it is that the player can fill the need the article is about ... or in some cases avoid.
in other words if you're writing about what a bunch of scumbags that Grand Prive casinos are ... then it would be both self-serving and more importantly surfer-serving ..... to provide a link to a quality RA casino.

In general, landing pages advertise the brand you are trying to promote, so they are important. As far whether text link or banners are better entrees to landing pages, I believe (and there have been studies to corroborate this), text links that are woven into content seem to convert better - banners seems to be too flashy and too forceful. Once your text link is clicked, the landing page takes over, and it will usually determine whether someone signs up or not. I recommend using landing pages that don't have too much flash, but are attractive and certainly informative.
