Here is my biggest mantra:

Don't think that just because you are doing well today, you will do well tomorrow. Things change, and they change rapidly in this industry. Some of these changes include: Search Engine algorithms, laws (e.g., UIGEA), validity of vendors, and program terms of vendors. Most important, make sure that you diversify into many industries. No one on this board can forecast what this industry will look like 1 year from now - it could be thriving again, or it could be dead as a door nail. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket ever, or you may suffer the consquences.

That's excellent advice!

That said: can anybody offer a different niche that is lucrative enough to turn some heads?

I can't think of anything even close to as lucrative as this niche.

We're looking at solar panels and wind generators, possibly starting up a business where we go around and install these with the offer that they can be paid for on an installment plan that basically allows the customer to pay for the green-friendly item ... with the money that the item saves every month.

I've only just read the last couple of posts here, but after reading your last one bb1 I thought I would chime in.

I was told by an aff last week that credit cards are huge and they earn a pretty decent 5 figure salary per month from organic search on credit cards for an affiliate site.

Might be something to consider.

I always thought baby stuff online would rake in the dosh too considering that most mothers are unable to go to shopping centres and it's mostly cheaper to buy stuff online and in bulk...

Cheers

Renee,

Credit Cards do pay well, but it is a very saturated industry, and CC companies are being a lot more restrictive in terms of who they give these cards out to. Credit Cards, like housing, college, and healthcare, is definitely one of the next bubbles to pop.

BB1,

Yes, nothing pays like gambling, I agree. I am still looking for that next nugget, but at this time, I think it's prudent to diversity in a "bunch" of smaller arenas, of which there are many. The sum of the whole, may yield a nice income.

Hi again all,

Take this with a grain of salt, because same person told me that all sand comes from being shat out a parrot fish.

(edited to add: this next after I had returned from googling)

(My son, God love and watch over 'im). sigh, ... lol, turns out he wasn't all wrong ... he just wasn't all right. Parrot fish do shat out sand, but they don't make all of it.

anyway he tells me that in the solar world that the blades for the wind mills, ... that they are really selling hot right now and for decent profit to boot.

That made me start thinking (perhaps what most you already have known forever) ... is that perhaps ebay would be a good place to watch for the next big trends because while it sells a lot of shit ... there is a sector of people who simply will not go the ebay route for whatever reason. I suspect its the lack of a static website that displays the exact product that is being sold ... for an extended period of time. In other words like when you walk into sears tool dept you know to expect to always see their best saws and drills etc, to be on display. That lends credibility to a product when you see it more than once .

In the case of ebay it is not like visiting the sears website. The products might be of quality ... they might not. Its a risk some people choose to avoid by only spending their money at established websites.

In any case the blades for the windmills are selling for much more than I suspect they can be made, I won't know for sure until my first one gets here but I think yes.

They're made of either aluminum or fiberglass in which either case, they shipping cost should be minimal

Here's another one -- always treat your AM's with professionalism and dignity. I've seen so many newbies trash AM's for things that haven't been going right, just to find out that they are subsequently ignored when they need further assistance. This is an industry where all communication is done via Email and the Web, and patience must be exhibited when communicating with those that want to help us do well.

Here's one probably everybody but me knew, but I'll add it for the less-able-to-spot-the-obvious, such as myself.

DO NOT ignore keeping your aff info up to date just because you always remember to update your payment info (so to ensure you get paid).

While enduring my hotmail account being hacked I was lucky I have a good working relationship with some of my aff programs, this time it was Brightshare, where I have several accounts due to partnerships, anyway come to find out the original account which I was signed up under Adrian from the old GPWA days (I forget his username) ... that it showed my country was Afganistan, my last name was my middle initial (i'd have never guessed that one).

and to make your password something that isn't easy to remember, much as I hate to say it. no words or string of words, and use periodic capitals and other more exotic keys when allowed such as the $ sign.

edited to add: and don't think that just because you never did anything to anybody else, that you won't be a target.

Just saw this now, but I have to agree - if your first email ever to your aff manager is filled with profanities and accusations, don't expect a decent reply back and don't expect them to want to jump to help you... I would probably expect the bare minimum back to an email like that. I think some people forget that we are human beings just as much as the next person...
