I am reading an article that is discussing the flank Australia is receiving over there partnership with "BetFair" an online gaming site that is taking bets on the Tennis Tournament which has "Federer and Williams" as two of the big stars.
I had no idea that it was legal in Australia to bet online for any sports? Should we be looking into this area of promoting for sportsbooks? God am I behind on the times...this real caught my eye when i saw the title of the news release.. Here is the link if you want to read or are behind everything like myself..lol http://www.smh.com.au/business/fancy...0114-m7rn.html

Not as simple as it seems i am afraid.
The Australians have been fighting Betfair tooth and nail over their license which i believe was granted to them by the state of Tasmania originally. In Betfair to bet on any event in Australia like the Aussie Tennis Open you have to actually transfer money from your main wallet to your Australian wallet much like you would do if you transfered money from say poker to games to casino to sportsbook if you was in say Bet365. There are quite a few Aussie bookies and the problem with Betfair is that they are more an exchange than an actual sportsbook and that is where the amnosity comes from. It is easy enough to open up affiliate accounts with the Aussie bookies and the Aussies bet in serious numbers and i do know of webmasters that do indeed target the Australians. In terms of the specifics of the law i am not 100% sure, what i do know is they bet, there are Aussie bookies and Betfair is licensed there and accepts bets there. |

Thank you BP,
I have never really gone into the sports betting arena even though i love baseball and football and can hold my own in the betting world, but it was just to confusing to me all the different promotions that sports books offer besides the n ormal spreads and over and under bets.... But maybe i need to start looking into this seeing how Australians are big markets....if I need some guidance when I decide to start a website just for sports may I come to you for help? Please?? lolll Cheers Pat

Absolutely though the best guy to probably help you in that part of the world would be TheGooner as he is in New Zealand and will have a far better understanding of the law down under etc and the sort of market available.
But yes of course, always will help when i can
